BSNL Dataone Password recovery from Modem or Router

Posted by admin on 13th, 2010

Recovering the password for your BSNL dataone broadband connection is fairly simple if you have choosed the PPPoE method of connection and your password is already stored in the modem or router.

I am using a Belkin G series wireless router. I’ll explain the method to recover the password for belkin g wirless router and the same method can be applied to any modems.

1) Connect to your modem, for belkin from internet explorer or firefox goto 192.168.2.1

2) You should be knowing the modem password, otherwise you cannot proceed. Login to your modem

3) Choose connectivity -> PPPoE

4) You will see the login information. Right click and view frame source.

5) CTRL+ F and search for “ISP_Password_Conf”. Near to password fields try n locate value=”your password

Eg: <input NAME=”ISP_Password_Conf”TYPE=”Password”maxlength=63 size=15 value=”bsnl password“></td>

For rest of the modems the modem url will be 192.168.1.1 and the default  username/password can be admin/admin

Problems with Dell Laptop – Customer care experience Bangalore

Posted by admin on 7th, 2010

Its been quite long since ive been off from this blog and i never blogged on this after i got my dell inspiron 1545.

Background

I got my Dell inspiron 1545 on May last before i moved back to bangalore to start my MBA life.I was pretty proud to have a dell (coz of the many reviews). I could find a lot of people in my MBA class having dell inspirons and studio.

The Present

i first saw the problem with a friends laptop. Where everything was fine till the login and after the login it get’s stuck at the welcome screen. Three weeks back i got up in the morning to find a internal hard disk error on the screen. I switched off and on again it seemed normal and the same thing happened as it got stuck in the welcome screen. I called my friend and asked for a solution and he said he went to a outside service center and reinstalled windows vista. I tried to install the same by putting my Dell Windows Vista re-installation cd, but it gave me a hard disk error. I dint want to lose the data. I called up Dell customer care, and they confirmed its a hard disk problem and they offered to replace my hard disk. I asked them would they help me with the data backup and they said sorry and i’ll have to do that myself. I searched google for data recovery in bangalore and came across web nirnaya. The place is in Jayanagar and at the expense of Rs 1400 (650 for re-installation + Rs 750 for data backup) i could get my system to work again.

The dell guys called me 4 days after and since i was through with my issue i said to close the call. Two weeks after this i got the same error. Bad lazy me still did not do a backup of the data and was stuck again with dilema. I called the Dell customer care service (bangalore local number) and again explained everything. They identified the error and also asked my Optical drive is working fine. I said im also having problems with it. They offered to replace both as both came under warrenty.

This time the customer service was quick and i got a call that day itself after 2 hours and confirmed that the Dell service executive will come the very next day. The next day the service guy was right on time, he was very friendly. I got my hard disk and optical drive replaced and the issue was resolved in an hours time with re-installation of Windows Vista.

In short Problem i have with my laptop and resolutions

  • Hard Disk problem – resolved free of cost
  • Optical drive – making noise and cd scratch – problem resolved with replacement free of cost.
  • Missing “ALT Key” – un-resolved as i would have to replace my keyboard fully and it does come only under full warranty which is about 7k. The cost of keyboard is around Rs 2.3K+
  • Broken side panel near to the mike. – un resolved.
The side panels are so think and weak and any pressure applied on them, it would break. This is one common problem with dell inspirons and the side panel replacement comes at a cost of over Rs 1200.

Dell in short has a great customer service, but almost a major chunk of the people i know with inspirons are having my similar problems with additional battery and motherboard problems also. I really would love to see dell offering databack up also, as its a pain when ur dell crashes without any warning and the huge amounts companies charge to get back ur data ( i got my data retrieved for the second time from web nirnaya for Rs 400 which is cheap).

    Day 1

Three of us headed to Thekkady (Kumaly) in Kerala from Cochin on November 30th 2008 morning. We headed to thekkady through the Vytilla Muvatupuzha route. If you are heading from any place in fort kochi or ernakulam city this is the best route to take else you should take the Aluva – Muvatupuzha route.

In between the journey we halted at many scenic places and also to feed our tummies. We had Appam + Egg curry from Erattupetta(Kottayam). We reached Kumaly around 1PM ( our Indica got punctured on the way) and headed to Hotel Periyar which is near the Thekkady Entrance Gate.

We then checked into a Homestay (Kerala style rooms) which was facing the Forest. Homestays charge you from Rs 750 to Rs 1500. If you the right contacts you might get discounts also. We then went and booked for night trekking in the forest. We choose to trek from 10PM to 1AM in the night. We tried to book for bamboo rafting but did not get tickets.

Night Trekking was a nice experience. It was pitch dark. We where given Leech resistant shocks + Torch Lights. Two Guards where also there and it was a group of 5 Travellers. We could only spot only Deers during the trekk.

    Day 2

Woke up at 11am and dint have any plans as such. We then decided to head to a waterfalls and view point which was 3KM away from thekkady. From the view point you can have a look at the Kambam Town. We couldnt enjoy the beauty of the waterfalls because we where standing on top of a pretty big waterfall and never could get a glimse of the falls. All i knew is the fall is pretty deep.

By 3 PM we reached back to thekkady and then decided to walk to the Lake where the boating take place. We did not want to do boating because of the fear of not spotting a single animal. On the way to boating place which is like kinda 1 hour walk we could spot some animals.

The day 2 of our thekkady stay was just spent relaxing and enjoying the nature. You have a variety of options to do which can really kill the day.

How to pay your hathway broadband Internet Bill

Posted by admin on 4th, 2008

Hathway Broadband internet Connection bangalorePaying the Hathway broadband internet bill always ended up being a pain for me. I keep taking the three month pack (3 months Rs:1500+3GB+ 11PM to 9AM free download and it dint have any installation charges as they had some offer for the company i worked).  Off late they have started sending the mails reminding you to make the payments and sometimes even the customer care calls you up for follow up asking you to renew, which i think is good. I often end up renewing only after it get expires and then starts the pain. I drop the check in Hathway boxes kept and these guys dont take the check inspite of repeated calls from you to clear the check.Three times it took a week for me to renew my connection. I am just putting the options available in front of you to pay your Hathway Broadband bills.

Ways in which you can pay your Hathway Internet Bill.

    • Head Directly to their office and Pay! (the most fastest renewal option)
    • Drop a check in Hathway Drop box. You just have to wait for the executive to collect the check from the drop box. Once the check is collected and it reaches the office the account is renewed even before the check is cleared.
    • Drop it in Sky Pack Boxes. I guess this would be a much faster option as the skypack boxes get cleared daily. Almost all companies have one Skypack drop box.
    • Call hathway customer care and ask them to send a executive to collect the check. It is the most easy option available, but always the executive wont be willing to come to your work place (due to distance problems) and he cant come before 10AM or 7PM to you house because he dosent work in between those timings. You have to wait for weekend for this option if your work place is far off from where you stay.

Let me know your Experience! but i must say their service has improved! I face less issues now regarding connection!
