Yahoo Kickstart on the lines of Linkedin
Yahoo’s new venture is called Yahoo Kickstart(some what similar to linkedin). Yahoo! Kickstart is a professional network with a distinct purpose to connect college students, recent grads, professionals and alumni to discover internships and jobs, or get career advice and mentorship.
You can create your Professional profile. Add your College,course and year of graduation. You can also add the list of companies you have worked. You can also follow a company and connect to employees of that company,get advice from them etc.
And Yahoo will let your college Earn also, By 12/31/07* if your college can have the maximum number of Alumni Profiles in Kickstart, Yahoo! will donate $25,000 to your college( US Schools and Universities only). Nice way to promote.
The website layout looks simple. Connect to other members is also easy. Messaging is also pretty neat. On the home page it shows updates on the number of people who have joined your college alumni,Company or other organizations.
And Finally Top Reasons for Using Kickstart( a bit crap as felt by JustAScrap).
Yahoo says Mash is just for Social networking and fine and Kickstart is for professional Networking. let’s see how things go for yahoo.
