Shama Travels – Bangalore to Cochin
Just to start off..I’m home again! this time for 4 days, and I love the atmosphere of my home.This time net is working fine and I’m back in action from home. The first thing I did was to check whether my net connection was working fine. Last time I called up the Dataone guys they said the DNS had changed still I used the old DNS I had and the connection seemed to work fine.
This time I made my travel in Shama travels from Bangalore to cochin booked online. The bus was supposed to be at 8.30 PM. I started from office by 6.15, reached my room by 7.10. Packed the Bag and was off to Madiwala where the boarding point was given. Shama travels office you can find in between the federal bank and the citibank ATM’s which is also next to Madiwala petrol pump.
Shama I must say the Volvo bus from outside looks awesome. Normally ive only seen the Black colored Luxury buses from shama. This time it was a red bus(may be because i booked by ticket online from redbus). My seat no was 23. Normally when we guys board a bus we always hope some beautiful ladies comes and sits next to you but it never happens.Since i’m telling "normally" you guys might think this time some female made and entry next to me and asked " Seat no 24?? ". Sh….rewind…i booked my ticket along with my friend nidhin 
. So no chance for such thoughts just prayers that i reach home before 8.30am.
The running time between bangalore to cochin is normally 10-11hours. I hate the thought of getting late to home because the entire day would be spoiled if you get late after 11 and all.
Shama Travels Volvo semi sleeper my seat it did not bend as much other peoples seat. I kept pushing it back hoping it will go back further but in vain. This vary thought of my seat not properly bend just dint let me feel comfortably and i was awake most of the time but some point of the time i slept off and by the time i woke up it was palakkad and the time was already 6.30am. Oh my GOD!!! 2 and half hours more, that will make it 9am. I’ll never reach in time. The road between palakkad and thrissur was horrible. People never call that road these days, just a "Kachara " aka Bad aka "potta" aka "CRAP" way!. The driver i think was inexperienced. He hardly overtook the autorickshaws in front. I knew i would reach late and i did reach late.
Time 10.35am. I got down at premier tyres. Man 14 hours!!! almost 3 hours late. I wonder which travels is good???
As i said reaching late would always spoil the day and im here browsing at home and writing a crap post just to test the windows live writer .

Oops..tats a common story though sounds funny.never I guess, i have reached my place on time by any of te buses plying bangalore-kerala.I wonder why ters such a rush for boooking tickets where the travel guys says “no tickets,and if any special bus are there will provide u one,but on extra charge…”.But most of the time I find these buses empty ! So wats happening in the underground travels management table? Who creating this hype of no tickets!! and why ter r less trains to kerala?? -> do the bus operators have connections in this regards,just questions wit no answers.Anyway I am boarding a private bus to kerala today,wit hopes tat te trip wound be sound and on time!

I travelled by the Shama Transport volvo from Cochin to Bangalore on April 17, 2009. The bus left cochin at 9 PM. After about 5 hours of travel, they stopped the bus after coimbatore woke us all up. We were asked to change the bus to another shama transport volvo waiting at a petrol bunk. This took about an hour. The bus that left cochin was in better condition and the bus we were asked to board was in bad shape. After 10 minutes of travel they stopped again and there was another Shama transport bus in another petrol bunk !! After fiddling around the engine bays of both the buses, for another half an hour we started again. Now the air-conditioning had been turned off !!!
We spent another suffocating 5 hours in the bus to Bangalore without air-conditioning and closed windows ! We finally reached madiwala Bangalore at 9: 30 AM ! There was no explanation given to us by the driver or anyone from Shama transport and no talk of any refund or compensation either ! They just do not care! It is really sad that these transporters take money in full and then do all sorts of things to evade inter state taxes and give a damn about passengers!! Volvo or even the best buses in the world cannot help alleviate the sufferings of the common Indian traveller because there is nothing called customer service with these third rate transporters/ operators.

hi i travelled once on a shama from banglore to pathanamthitta, on 27th april, the bus was very very fast, i was on seat no 4 behind the driver, i slept off, the next thing i feel is being thrown off my seat on to the floor, look up and see the left side crashed into a lorry, i heard people screeming …… 5 people died on the spot 3-4 people seriously injured this happened on the banglore salem highway at 11:45pm,i didnt no what 2 do, there was no help frm the shama travels police came and took the dead and injured to the hospital,i along with other 4 passengers took a taxi to pathanamthitta, we had 2 pay 7000rs for the taxi, the injured people had to pay their hospital bills on there own,these shama people didnt even bother to help us after this trajic accident, i recomend all u people never to get on a shama ever again , they dont care for the passengers on board even if they die……..

Prashanth..i know the trauma u would have gone through! Good that you where unhurt!…prayers for those people who lost their lifes!
I was trying to figure out which bus was that that crashed…the papers never mentioned which travels crashed. They must have paid huge amounts to these newspapers to hide their name.

Prashanth, Really horrified to hear your experience. Why is the press so quiet?? Because no celebrity or minister died? Who is responsible for lost lives? You should bloody take these heartless bus operators to court !!! Or at least fill the internet with your experience and how bad this SHAMA TRAVELS company is !!! I or my family will never go by SHAMA again! bastards.

Hey.. hemant.. mind ur words.. don’t call the company as bastards….let me tell u.. even my cousin was there in the bus.. Wat can the travels do if their bus met wit accident…Just think.. i have been traveling in Shama regularly for nearly 15 yrs.. n till date i have not heard a single passenger casualties in Shama due to an accident…except the last one…just put yourself in their shoes.. u have a bus service and wen in met wit an accident will u rush to the spot to help.. the reaction would be the locals or the passengers on knowing u r from the travels company would beat u up like anything… the same has been done here… way i feel is compared wit kallada shama is best…

Micky who the hell are you to tell me what to say ? I have had lousy experiences in Shama. They are bastards, all of them. Take money and and do behave like they are not answerable. Did they pay any compensation or at least take care of medical bills? Obviously not because they have no insurance cover for all these eventualities. What can they do if they have an accident? Shama are an irresponsible company and their buses break down regularly, the drivers are over worked and drive too fast. Kallada is no different, they are also a third rate service. It is people like you who are happy with poor quality who encourage these bus companies. Why the hell are so defensive about shama? You are surely an interested party and have something to do with shama. If you are from shama tell them that people are calling them bastards. Pay your drivers better and give them proper rest by rotation. And maintain your bloody buses properly you greedy bastards.

Hey hemant… ya shama is close to me…n cant u jus make out tat no vehicle can run wit out an insurance … u hav written “not because they have no insurance cover for all these eventualities. “……. poor chap dont knw the basics of puttin a vehicle on indian road….if we hav invested lac s of money in the business its our wish to tak the decisions n run the company…n if u r not satisfied wit the Pvt services lik shama ,kallada etc … y the fuck do u come to book tickets in pvt buses….go KSRTC n trains r waitin.. go suck them bastards….i think so u came to know abt the news of KSRTC volvo s accidents tat hpnd on consecutive days killing nearly 10…….n media this hpnd in TN… every malayalam daily had the news… some had it in the very first page lik the news they got jus before the final proof print…man we guys in travels r interacting wit customers for more than 25 years n we knw wat indian customers r happy wit… k….

Thanks for your Shama/Sharma Bus feedback. It’s 11.30 PM in the night now and the first thing I do tomorrow is cancel my booking that I had with this bus for my tomorrow’s travel to Bangalore. I just now booked online an A/C 2-tier train ticket — I’m sure it’s much safer to travel by train.
It’s such a shame that this bus representative *micky* has this kind of attitude.
