Shama Travels - Bangalore to Cochin

Just to start off..I’m home again! this time for 4 days, and I love the atmosphere of my home.This time net is working fine and I’m back in action from home. The first thing I did was to check whether my net connection was working fine. Last time I called up the Dataone guys they said the DNS had changed still I used the old DNS I had and the connection seemed to work fine.

This time I made my travel in Shama travels from Bangalore to cochin booked online. The bus was supposed to be at 8.30 PM. I started from office by 6.15, reached my room by 7.10. Packed the Bag and was off to Madiwala where the boarding point was given. Shama travels office you can find in between the federal bank and the citibank ATM’s which is also next to Madiwala petrol pump.

Shama I must say the Volvo bus from outside looks awesome. Normally ive only seen the Black colored Luxury buses from shama. This time it was a red bus(may be because i booked by ticket online from redbus). My seat no was 23. Normally when we guys board a bus we always hope some beautiful ladies comes and sits next to you but it never happens.Since i’m telling "normally" you guys might think this time some female made and entry next to me and asked " Seat no 24?? ". Sh….rewind…i booked my ticket along with my friend nidhin :). So no chance for such thoughts just prayers that i reach home before 8.30am.

The running time between bangalore to cochin is normally 10-11hours. I hate the thought of getting late to home because the entire day would be spoiled if you get late after 11 and all.

Shama Travels Volvo semi sleeper my seat it did not bend as much other peoples seat. I kept pushing it back hoping it will go back further but in vain. This vary thought of my seat not properly bend just dint let me feel comfortably and i was awake most of the time but some point of the time i slept off and by the time i woke up it was palakkad and the time was already 6.30am. Oh my GOD!!! 2 and half hours more, that will make it 9am. I’ll never reach in time. The road between palakkad and thrissur was horrible. People never call that road these days, just a "Kachara " aka Bad aka "potta" aka "CRAP" way!. The driver i think was inexperienced. He hardly overtook the autorickshaws in front. I knew i would reach late and i did reach late.

Time 10.35am. I got down at premier tyres. Man 14 hours!!! almost 3 hours late. I wonder which travels is good???

As i said reaching late would always spoil the day and im here browsing at home and writing a crap post just to test the windows live writer :).

How many social Networking Sites do i Check?

Ive been on the most luckiest ones(i believe so) to be in orkut in the first month of it’s launch. what I liked about orkut that time is that the strictness(the jail system), the decent and professional crowd, less no of spam and a extra brilliant network of friends. Ever since my joining, i used to check orkut daily or on alternate days but now things have died down due to lotsa issues in my side. Reports say atleast 60% of the internet users in india are hooked on to orkut for making new friends and to kill their time.

I really dont know the count of social networking sites that have cropped up in the web these days. I stopped signing up to social networking sites these days,because of the amount of spam i get from them.

hi5 is one network i feel is quite different or used to be different from orkut. IT’s young and full of energy. I could find the majority of young people in hi5.

I also have signed up for myspace as it’s one the biggest social networking sites in the world. Though it’s difficult to keep pace in myspace as majority of the users are from US.

Facebook is one which is fast growing and which is getting popular and because of the blogs and media reports i could see more people signing for that. Even i signed after seeing some news post about facebook.

Bigadda india’s own web 2.0 social networking site which comes from none other than the reliance family is making its roots felt with advertisements and campaign. Bharatstudent which is also another community which has made it’s mark on the alexa ranking for india. I must say that bharatstudent is rather a porn community because it encourages people to post and earn and lotsa pornographic videos are there and i can find lotsa people spamming in orkut and other groups with shortlinks that eventually lead to bharatstudent. Wallop is another one community which i got invited to today and it’s web2.0 and pretty neat. I havent got time to explore it more,but sure would love to have something put up under that there. Mash by Yahoo which was recently launched is another networking yahoo has launched with a pet for each people and also allowing users to add modules to other peoples homepage and edit other people’s page which is kinda different compared to other social networking sites of it’s kind.

There are still lot more social networking websites like youmint, joost etc. Oh god i cant even recollect the no of invites i am getting. The truth is that you can get signups but these sites find it hard to bring back the people to their website. I might signup for any number of websites but eventually i end up checking just one or two websites in the long run?

Finally i post a question to you guys. How many Social networking websites do you check??

Internet Lan Not Working in Compaq Presario??

I am having offlate all sorts of problems. Second House shift in two months,One net shift and another new connection and i guess im finally settled. My Laptop was giving all sorts of problems. First the internet was not connecting which i later discovered that the Network Adapter for my Compaq Presario V3133AU went missing one fine day. I had confused 1394 adapter to be the one which i used to connect to internet and when i tried to repair that connection it always get TCP/IP not enabled error.

I reinstalled the Nvidia nforce network controller and then all seem to be back in normal in appearance. Problems against started when i tried to set up a lan with my local desktop PC or try to connect directly to the internet, it says connected but i coudnt ping the gateway or other system in the Lan. I could not even ping the modem.  After going through many online hardware and networking forums i realised that  it was a firewall issue. I Checked the Windows Firewall and also the Active armor firewall which got installed along with the Nvidia network controller. I disabled the active armor and stilled tried to ping the gateway which gave me message saying host cannot be reached.

Finally i decided to go to the settings of the active armor firewall and i was pretty sure that the windows firewall was Off,there was no antivirus installed as i just formatted my system because of this issue thinking it was TCP/IP problem when it gave me TCP/IP not enabled error(If this is the error make sure you are not seeing 1394 adapter or reinstall your network adapter driver once more). In the Home page of the active firewall(you reach there by clicking on the desktop icon of active armor firewall) there is a link called restore factory settings. In that choose Ethernet and Firewall and restore both. After doing this my net and lan was up finally. I turned off both the firewalls, but i could manage to setup the net.

Symptoms

•    Lan/Internet Shows Connected, But Ping is not working.
•    Internet not working
•    Lan not working

Solution

Disable all your firefalls. This can be only because of firewall Issue. Check windoes firefall(some windows update can
automatically on ur windows firefall) and recheck other firewalls.

Hutch to be Vodafone. No goodbye to Pug

Finally the mutch awaited brand transition will happen tomorrow. From Tomorrow Hutch will be history. Vodafone makes a mark in Indian soil tomorrow by officially eliminating the brand hutch..yes the complete transition will happen tomorrow and what not they are spending huge(around 250 crores) on this transition for advertisements as well as for other things.

Star network will only Air Vodafone adds for the entire day tomorrow on all it’s channel’s. No other advertisements or internal program scedules or anything of that sort will be shown. It’s all Vodafone for tomorrow. So im expecting a lot of variety add’s tomorrow and to see the Pug in action under the vodafone banner. Hutch advertisements featuring the pug has always maintained a pretty high standard and people love watching those add’s any no of times. im hoping vodafone also brings in nice concept add’s.

What vodafone get’s from Hutch ?

 3.5 crore customers and all the employees  of Hutch.

Also vodafone plans to lauch cheap mobile phones in India in the coming future. Market analysts speculate the cell phones could be pretty cheap to match reliance’s handsets and indicom’s which are priced in the range of Rs 700- Rs 1300 .

Hutch as of now has been providing good and quality service and we hope vodaphone can better this. Expect more offers guys!!!

Indian premier Leauge Cricket

BCCI aka Board of Control for Cricket in India  has announced the launch of its Twenty20 league to counter Zee’s Indian Cricket Leauge(ICL). The BCCI’s league will be called ‘Indian Premier League’ (IPL) and it will surely pose a major threat to Kapil dev headed ICL. The Final leg of the IPL will be called Champions twenty20 Leauge.

The tournament will start in April 2008 and the Champions Twenty20 league by  the first week of October 2008. The IPL, that will have 59 matches in total, will be played on a home and away basis.

Eight domestic teams from four nations will participate in the first Twenty20 League. Apart from India, Australia, England, South Africa to take part in the league.

The champion team in the Champions Twenty20 league will get $5 million, highest prize money ever for a cricket event.  Stephen Fleming and Shane Warne has been included in the league. BCCI will not  alter central contract of the cricket 

 Ravi Shastri, Sunil Gavaskar, Pataudi and Rajeev Shukla named in the governing body. 
Each foreign player will be named ‘designated player’.  Each team will have a home ground.  The winner will get Rs 8 crore and the total prize money is Rs 20 crore .Prize money for Indian Premier League will be $3 million.

Twenty Twenty World Cup -T20

Twenty Twenty aka T20 is the future of Cricket. Soon gone will be those days of 50 over cricket matches. I seriously lost intrest in the Normal 50 over world cup matches, hearing about the T20 there is some urge in me to watch each and every match. It can be exciting full time hitting of the ball. Hope t20 world cup dosent disappoints people.

I wish Dhoni and his team all the best..bring home the first T20 cup home India….
