How to Enable USB drive write access

Posted by admin on 25th, 2007

Sometimes it may be such that you wont be able to write anything to your usb drive. You can only read from USB. In order to write something to USB you need to have the write access set. If you are the administrator of the system you can do that.

How to Enable Write access for USB

  • Goto Run
  • Type regedit and enter
  • Goto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies
  •  Double Click on  WriteProtect”=dword:00000001 and change the Value of 1 to “0″(zero)

Zero – To enable Write access

One - To disable Write access for USB drive

Hope this helps!
