Yet another Onam in Bangalore
Time just flies off…It’s been a year since i reached bangalore and it’s yet another Onam back in bangalore. Last onam i was undergoing my induction trainings and all the mallus of my batch decided to take some our non mallu friends out at night for a “Ona Sadhya”.
With all the enthusiasm( when it comes to foodings we are died hard addicts) and the love and the taste of mouth watering Ona sadya and also the happiness of treating our non mallu friends we went down hunting for a hotel in koramangala. We first went to paramount Hotel Koramangala(that time there was no empire hotel on the side), to our dissapointment they said Ona Sadya is only at noon(i know it’s at noon), but what do we poor techie engineer’s do!!…. Rest of the gang then voted to eat Chineese and headed straight to Bangalore first Vegeterian Chineese restraunt(it’s closed now :d). Me a died hard Non veg eater decided to go alone and satisfy my dissapointment at paramount by eating a chicken biriyani. Watever we called that onam “Chineese Onam”.
Dont search there is no definition for “Chineese Onam“ -may be i can deine it as The Onam in which Mallus eat Chineese food and celebrate Onam due to the non avaliability of “Ona Sadhya”. May be one day Wikepedia might provide a link back to my page saying the term chineese onam originated from the just a scrap(oh did i think too much?)
To the ones who came with us expecting to eat a Ona Sadhya, Guys we are extremely sorry for that day!!.
Yet another Onam is Coming. August 27th - people across the globe , All malayalees by birth will celebrate Onam and like any other one i will also try celebrating hoping to eat payasam at least and wearing “Mundu” aka Dothi and “Jubha” aka Kurtha. I will be working hard from my office room in shift with dream of the Onam i had at home…the Ona sadhya my mom used to make. Mom you made really good sadhya!! I miss home!
Can somebody give me a leave???
